Radiation of Short Pulses from the Open End of a Circular Waveguide

RÉSUMÉ

The problem of transient electromagnetic field radiation from the open end of a waveguide is solved in the time domain by analytical and direct numerical methods. By the modal basis method the problem of propagation of pulse signals in the regular waveguide is reduced to the obtaining of a nonstationary wave propagation operator. The application of the operator for finding the time waveform, by changing the time in both the positive and negative directions, makes it possible to obtain an arbitrary time dependence of the field amplitude in the any waveguide point with taking into account distortions caused by the wave dispersion. The papers presents the consideration on the correction of diffraction time wave form distortions and the short probe pulse forming at the waveguide aperture by exciting the waveguide, in the given cross-section, by the field with the preliminary calculated time dependence. The numerical simulation of the irradiation with short pulses from the layered lossy medium is carried out.
