Polarization Properties of a Screened Chiral Layer with a Diffraction Grating

RÉSUMÉ

The paper concerns with polarization characteristics of the reflecting structure which represents a dielectric layer and chiral layer between a diffraction grating and screen. Owing to the analytical regularization procedure, the diffraction vector problem is solved in the form admitting effective numerical investigation. It is shown that in particular cases the incident plane-polarized field may be fully converted to the specular reflection field of cross-polarization. The effects which the grating and the grating-screen resonant space exert on the polarization conversion character are recognized. The mechanism of polarization conversion is understood, and possibilities for enhancing conversion efficiency and broadbandness are demonstrated.
