Sinopsis

The paper presents a numerical procedure for the calculation of the heat and fluid flow in a system for exploitation of low enthalpy geothermal reservoirs. Using a generalised model for the mathematical description of heat and fluid flow through porous media, it is possible to study the heat exchanger, the well and the aquifer using a single domain approach and a finite volume commercial code. The results obtained are validated against the experimental data available for a geothermal reservoir in the island of Ischia in Italy, which were available from previous work of one of the authors. The comparison shows that the proposed procedure can be successfully used for the simulation of this type of problems, otherwise very difficult to understand.
