SINOPSIS

This paper describes the current state of our study addressing the question: How does unsteadiness imposed on an impinging jet influence its heat transfer performance? By means of a special flow rate control system various kinds of unsteadiness can be created and systematically varied with respect to its parameters, like frequency and amplitude. In this study it is outlined how a systematic investigation can be performed. Details are given on the heat transfer measurements as well as the unsteady flow, which can change qualitatively for different kinds of unsteadiness.
