Large-Eddy Simulation of the flow around a low-pressure turbine blade is presented for a Reynolds number of 150,000 based on the chord length and the outlet velocity, and a turbulence intensity of 5.8% at the inlet. These simulations aim at investigating turbulent heat transfer at the blade wall. The simulations are validated by comparing the mean velocity field and the Nusselt number at the wall against experimental measurements. The Nusselt number, which is directly estimated with the gradient of the resolved temperature, approaches experimental data for mesh resolutions close to DNS requirements. An advanced post-processing methodology based on a level set function is presented, which allows to compare the velocity profile at the suction side with the universal law of the wall. This novel highly resolved database will allow to elaborate new heat transfer and boundary models for realistic turbulent flows.
