Flow and Heat Transfer in a Wall-Bounded Pin Matrix
SINOPSIS
In this paper, three-dimensional turbulent forced convection in a matrix of wall-bounded 8×8 cylindrical pins has been studied. Large Eddy Simulations (LES) with two levels of grid refinement have been performed for three distinct Reynolds numbers (3000, 10000 and 30000). Results are presented and compared with the available experimental [1, 2] and numerical analysis [3]. Two different turbulence models (WALE and QR) are shown on a local row-by-row study. Velocity profiles and pressure coefficient results are comparable with the experiments and show a better performance than previous numerical references. Turbulence characteristics of the flow are well illustrated.
