Sinopsis

The present study address numerical modelling and simulations of flow, turbulence and dispersion of a passive or reactive pollutants within and over complex urban areas including the laboratory-scale and full-scale applications. The special attention is devoted to capture transient flow features by introducing a seamless hybrid RANS/LES approach. This proved to be crucial in improving predictions of characteristic peaks of the turbulent kinetic energy in the wake regions, and consequently on overall improvement in predictions of the concentration field.
