Sinopsis

The paper presents the results of experimental investigations of the influence of the power spectrum of turbulent velocity fluctuations on the local heat transfer fluctuations structure on the sphere surface. Because of this influence the average heat transfer coefficient on the sphere surface is dependent on the turbulence level of the inflow. This is the result of the influence of the external turbulence on the flow structure in a boundary layer that is created around the sphere surface. The paper also analyzes the power spectrum of the local heat transfer fluctuations and its relations to the velocity power spectrum of the inflow. The specific shape of the power spectrum of the turbulent velocity fluctuations occurs at certain distances from the free jet outlet. It was used as an indicator of the influence of the external flow turbulence on the local heat transfer fluctuations on the sphere.
