Sinopsis

This paper presents a heat transfer correlation developed from the Reichardt [1] profile, the Kader [2] correlation and a scaling similar to the inner scaling ofWang [3]. The novelty of this correlation is that it is not just a function of the non-dimensional wall distance y+ but, in a similar way to Wang [3], also the non-dimensional velocity u+ and temperature T+ in wall units. The correlation coefficients are derived based on DNS heated channel flow data ([4],[5] and [6]) for a wide range of Prandtl numbers (0.025 < Pr < 10). The correlation is shown to capture the change in slope of the logarithmic region observed in the natural convection boundary layer experiment of Tsuji [8], a feature the functions based on the non-dimensional wall distance y+ cannot capture.
