SINOPSIS

In this paper, we investigate the impact of ground and wall heating on flow and pollutant dispersion in a street canyon by means of the computational fluid dynamics code Fluent. The influence of geometry on turbulence and vortices distribution within the canyon is studied by considering several street canyon aspect ratios, ranging from W/H = 0.5 to 5 (where W is the width and H the height of the street canyon). Cases with and without heating at different street canyon boundaries and different inlet velocities, corresponding to different bulk Richardson numbers are considered.
