SINOPSIS
A stochastic model to predict phase inversion behaviour in agitated liquid-liquid dispersions is presented. The model uses a Monte Carlo technique to simulate the random motion and interactions of the drops in the dispersion taking into account the fundamental hydrodynamics of drop deformation, coalescence and break-up. Comparisons of the results with those obtained experimentally indicate good qualitative agreement with key features being captured by the model.
