SINOPSIS

This work reports the experimental analysis of adsorption of water and TBC contained in industrial styrene onto alumina. These compounds are the most important impurities that inhibit the polymerization reaction of styrene. A discrimination procedure of mathematical models that have been previously reported in the literature, led to the selection of the Logistic model for the system styrene-water and the Fritz-Schlunder model for the system styrene-TBC as the most suitable mathematical expressions in order to predict the observed experimental behaviour.
