SINOPSIS
Using the results of large scale multivent tests conducted by GKSS, we have developed a physical model of chugging. The unique combination of accurate digital data and cinematic data has allowed us to obtain detailed, quantified correlation between the dynamic physical variables and the associated two-phase thermo-hydraulic phenomena occurring during lean suppression (chugging) phases of the loss-of-coolant accident in a boiling water reactor pressure suppression system.
