Small Peclet-small Mach number approximation and its implications on statistical turbulence models

In this work, a small turbulent Peclet and Mach number approximation relevant for turbulent mixing flows encountered in stellar cores is derived. The asymptotic analysis used for this purpose puts forward the connection existing between the fluctuations of the velocity divergence and those of the heat conduction term. Then, some consequences of the derived small Peclet-small Mach number approximation on statistical turbulence models are discussed. In particular, the evolutions of the density variance and flux are examined.
