Sinopsis

A recent model of turbulent scalar transport in premixed turbulent flames was applied to RANS simulations of statistically stationary, 2D, axially symmetrical lean methane-air Bunsen flames investigated experimentally by Pfadler et al. (2008) by varying equivalence ratio and mass flow rate. In line with the measurements, the model yields countergradient turbulent flux of the combustion progress variable, with the magnitude of the flux being increased when increasing the equivalence ratio or decreasing the mass flow rate.
