Sinopsis

Turbulent flow at Reynolds number 50,000 around a sphere with trip wire placed 75° from the frontal stagnation point is investigated using DES simulation. The time-averaged results of the velocity field agree well with the measurements from literature and reveal good reproduction of the separation zone, as well as the extent of the recirculation region. While the near-wall velocities are captured well, the values in the wake are slightly under-predicted.
