SINOPSIS

The objectives of the present study are the development and application of an analytical method for an externally heated tubular reforming furnace, whereby simulations were conducted for both the reforming reaction and the intrafurnace heat transfer, and solutions were found for both processes by using fuel burning ratios as a parameter.
The analytical values for the furnace exhaust gas temperature and reactor tube surface temperature obtained by this method exhibited a comparatively good correspondence with actual measured values, suggesting that the method is capable of practical use.
