SINOPSIS

The political goal to reduce the C02 emission by 30 % until 2005 requires new approaches in the design and operation of heating, ventilation and airconditioning (HVAC) systems. Potential oversizing have to be removed to make these systems more effective and to optimize them in view of energy consumption and emission. This requires the utilization and integration of both, knowledge based methods for the development of alternative solutions and simulation methods for the optimization of a chosen design.
WISPLA is such a hybrid knowledge system which is under development at the University of Stuttgart. Its knowledge based part is developed in KEE [1], the simulations are based on TRN-SYS. The CAD interface is developed in accordance with the rules given from ISYBAU and STEP.
The aim of WISPLA is to support the designer during all design phases from establishing the basis data until the complete design of the heating system. As a result, a well documented and best fitting heating design is expected.
