Visualization of nucleate pool boiling experiment revealed that the contact angle at the bubble base varies during the growth cycle. The modified model was proposed to account for the dynamic contact angle by calculating microlayer evaporation with respect to the change in the contact angle in initial and fi nal growth periods. Comparison of pool boiling curves based on the present model, considering the dynamic contact angle with the previous model considering the static contact angle and the existing experimental data, shows better prediction.
