I. Starobogatov's concept regarding phased settling of the continental waters by primary aquatic invertebrates explains differences in fauna of water bodies of different types, in species number in genera and families and in geographical distribution of these animals. Descendants of later settled species are more sensitive to the water quality and anthropogenic pollution than descendants of earlier settled species. Therefore they are more important as indicators of water quality. %8 2016-10-06
