T1 Influence of Temperature Acclimation and Actinomycin D on the Carbohydrate Metabolism in Liver and Muscles of Mullus barbatus ponticus JF Hydrobiological Journal JO HYD YR 2001 FD 2001-04-01 VO 37 IS 2 OP 8 AB The decrease in temperature from 16°C to 8°C caused the reduction in glycogen concentration and LDH activity, and the raise in G6PDH activity in tissues of red-striped mullet. These changes were expressed mostly in liver and in red muscles. The injection of actinomycin D, which is an inhibitor of protein biosynthesis, significantly decreased glycogen concentration, and insignificantly increased LDH and G6PDH activities. Mechanisms of the carbohydrate metabolism modification in fish tissues under decreasing environmental temperature are discussed.
