SINOPSIS
Species composition of benthic diatoms at 43 points and 19 tacks of the Bulgarian Black Sea shelf has been studied. Material was collected during July 1986 − November 1990 from solid substrata (both natural and artificial) at depths of 0−2 m, and from loose sediments on the bottom at depths of 0−50 m. A total of 238 species and 73 varieties of diatoms have been found. The structure of the diatom flora is summarized in the Table. The taxonomic diversity of diatoms in the region investigated has been considered.
