SINOPSIS

Data on the species composition of Bacillariophyta of coal-mine settling ponds of the Vorkuta industrial region are presented for the first time. In totall, 89 species were identified. These species are represented by 105 infraspecific taxa, including those containing nomenclatural types of species, and belong to 4 orders, 14 families and 26 genera. The taxonomic list contains ecological and geographical characteristics of the species found and data on their abundance. Taxa of Bacillariophyta not typical for water bodies of continental tundra were revealed.
