DNA Structure Study in the Verification of Taxonomic Identity of Different Strains of Edible and Medicinal Mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.:Fr.) Kumm. (Agaricomycetideae)

SINOPSIS

Genetic relationships between different strains of oyster mushroom [Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.: Fr.) Kumm.] from various geographical and ecological niches in Armenia and Russia have been investigated. Some DNA parameters have been obtained: the guanine-cytosine (GC) contents and the corresponding differential melting curves (DMC) of DNA of both strains have been determined. The profiles of the DNA melting curves for the strains have identical character. These data have been confirmed in conjunction with the nucleotide composition of investigated DNA as well as determination of the methylation level of DNA. Comparison of the abovementioned parameters shows that the DNA of the investigated genomes from different ecological and geographical niches has identical structure.
