SINOPSIS

The plane monochromatic wave scattering by a diffraction grating of metal strips periodically perforated by rectangular holes is considered. It is shown that the grating of the kind provides resonant reflection of the incident wave. The action of grating geometrical parameters on the Q-factor and the reflection resonance frequency is examined. For the physical interpretation of the total reflection effect, the eigenmode problem is solved in the complex domain of a frequency parameter. The numerical simulation results on multi-layer filters with enhanced frequency selectivity are demonstrated.
