SINOPSIS

Characteristics of a non-resonant linear slotted-waveguide array representing a system of longitudinal slots in a rectangular waveguide with a dielectric layer parallel to its narrow walls are analyzed. The case is considered where the slow wave in the waveguide is shorter than the free-space wave. The adequacy of the suggested mathematical model to real physical processes has been tested experimentally. It is shown that a slotted-waveguide array built around a waveguide with a dielectric layer proves to be more broadband than that of the same electrical length constructed on the basis of a hollow waveguide.
