SINOPSIS

Molecular environment of galactic supernova remnant Kes 79 is investigated using results of observations of 13CO and methanol molecular line emission. The 13CO emission line broadening associated with radial velocities about +90 and +105 km/s has been first revealed. The effect suggests new evidence of the possible interaction of supernova remnant Kes 79 with molecular clouds. The line broadening at the radial velocity +105 km/s was observed throughout the remnant surface, while that at +90 km/s was seen near its north-eastern boundary. A methanol maser has been detected in the direction of the OH-molecule emission region observed earlier in Kes 79. It is expected that the maser emission is a result of the supernova remnant interaction with a molecular cloud moving at the radial velocity +90 km/s. The intensity of the detected source is variable with time.
