Tensile Behavior of Cementitious Composite Reinforced with Epoxy Impregnated Multifilament Yarns

SINOPSIS

The paper presents a mesoscopic modeling framework for the simulation of three-phase composite consisting of brittle cementitious matrix and reinforcing alkali-resistant glass yarns impregnated with epoxy resin. The construction of the model is closely related to the experimental program covering both the mesoscale test (yarn tensile test and double-sided pullout test) and the macroscale test in the form of tensile test on the textile reinforced concrete specimen. The primary focus of the model is to capture the interaction effects between the matrix cracks and inelastic processes in the bond and yarn. The predictions of the model are validated using a posteriori performed experiments. The performed parametric studies allow us to make several general conclusions regarding the possible efficiency improvements for this type of composite elements loaded in tension.
