THE LONGITUDINAL VELOCITY CONSTRUCTION WITH A GIVEN TANGENTIAL STRESS IN THE DEVELOPED TURBULENT BOUNDARY LAYER ON THE PLATE
SINOPSIS
The solution to the incompressible Reynolds equations in the boundary layer approximation for a developed turbulent boundary layer on a plate is obtained by the matched asymptotic decomposition method when the tangential stress is given. The viscous subrange, defect velocity subrange, and intermediate range comparable to the momentum thickness are considered. The solution is taken at large Reynolds numbers. The composite expression of the mean longitudinal velocity component is given for a specified tangential stress. The self-similar approximation of the velocity field asymptotic was used to obtain the solution in the intermediate range. A similar expression is obtained for the experimentally given tangential stress. The results are compared with the experimental data.
