SINOPSIS
An experimental study is conducted on gas-particle, two-phase jet being horizontally injected into a liquid ladle. Both gas and particle flow rates are varied. A real-time image processing technique is employed to determine the timewise variation of gas and particle behavior and jet penetration. It is disclosed that the particles may stick on the inner surface of the gas bubble, break through the bubble surface, or mingle with the gas stream to form a two-phase jet, depending on the particle-to-gas flow rate ratio. A correlation equation is derived to predict the mean penetration depth of the jet or particles.
