Incorporation of EHD Enhancement in Heat Exchangers
SINOPSIS
This paper presents some new thinking about the possible effects of the electrode geometry on the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) enhancement of two phase heat transfer, especially boiling heat transfer. A hypothesis on the dependence of the enhancement effect on the geometry of the EHD electrode system in two phase heat transfer is made. For boiling, a conceptual model regarding the effect of EHD force on the bubble movement and hence enhancement effect is built. Furthermore, a semi-symmetrical electrode geometry is suggested to assess the hypothesis. The outcome of this study can hopefully form the basis of design of practical EHD heat exchangers.
