Traveling Waves and Nonuniform Steady States in Boiling
SINOPSIS
The results obtained in ICPCh RAS during years 1978−1996 investigating of critical phenomena in boiling liquids on a solid surface are presented. Our approach is based on main ideas of macrokinetics, combustion theory, and syner¬getics. Extension of the approach to processes of boiling makes it possible to describe alteration dynamics of boiling regime, to reveal different types of non¬uniform steady states (domain structures), to describe dynamics of initial stages of film boiling mode, to discover an autowave decay of a metastable liquid, and to suggest a new approach to the description of rewetting. Our results suggest that the widely adopted boiling curve shape is in error.
