Experimental Infestation of the mollusk Dreissena polymorpha (Bivalvia: Dreissenidae) by the Ciliate Conchophthirus acuminatus (Ciliophora: Oligohymenophorea)

SINOPSIS

The rates of distribution of noninfested mollusks Dreissena polymorpha Pall, from the cooling pond of the Khmelnitskiy Nuclear Power Plant by the ciliates Conchophthirus acuminatus Clap. Lachm. were determined under experimental conditions. There were established some features of ciliates' distribution depending on water conditions (temperature and water flow regime) and dimensional and sexual structure of zebra mussel population.
