SINOPSIS
The peculiarities of the functioning of bacterioplankton in the upper section of the Kanev Reservoir were studied in 2002−2004. It has been found that a decrease in the numbers of plankton bacteria as compared to the late 1990s was compensated by the increase in their functional activity. During this period, the requirements of bacterioplankton for energetic metabolism decreased, whereas its productivity (P/R) and ecological efficiency (G/A) increased.
