Changes in the Quantitative Indices of Development of Viable Zooplankton of Sevastopol Bay in 1998-1999 (Crimea, the Black Sea)

SINOPSIS

In 1999 the numbers and biomass of zooplankton of Sevastopol Bay were higher than those registered in 1998, which was conditioned by the difference in the oceanographic conditions. The viability of zooplankton (in terms of the number of dead organisms) should be taken into account along with the quantitative indices of its development. Zooplankton viability is a reliable index of the ecological state of marine waters.
