SINOPSIS

The modified method of areas for the evaluation of numbers of the mollusk species Mytilus galloprovincialis is proposed. This method allowed to identify the areas of high-probability, medium-probability and low-probability harvesting of mussel on the fishing bank Mezhvodnaya, Karkinit (Karkinitsky) Bay of the Black Sea, and to estimate the statistical significance of interannual variations of mussel stocks. Calculated average long-term statistics of catches are recommended in order to optimize the observation system.
