Excitation of the Resonance Clynotron at Very Small Anode Voltage
SINOPSIS
The excitation of the resonance clynotron under the electron synchronism with the negative first, second, third, and fourth spatial field harmonics of the slow-wave structure is investigated experimentally. The excitation occurs without the electron-beam premodulation at the starting current of only several units of milliampere. A simple physical model of electron-field interaction in the comb slot resonators is analyzed theoretically. It is shown that in the clynotron the effective interaction between the electrons and the high-frequency field is possible even though the transit angle has a very high value. The prospects for using the submillimeter-wave clynotron modes under consideration are discussed to increase several times in a period of the slow-wave structure.
