New Countermeasures Against Side-Channel Attacks for Cryptography on Elliptic Curves

Side-channel attacks are a new class of attacks that in practice turn out to be very powerful. During an attack, the intruder can extract through side channels some secret information from naive implementation of cryptographic algorithms. We propose several new methods for protection of scalar multiplication on elliptic curves against side-channel attacks. Our countermeasures are based on randomized implementation of scalar multiplication, using a double scalar presentation.
