ABSTRAKT
To investigate the characteristics of stably stratified turbulent channel flows, direct numerical simulations of low-Reynolds number flows are performed. It is shown that the mechanism responsible for the turbulent kinetic energy is modified, although the quantity summed over the wavenumbers shows no significant changes. It is found that the dispersion in the streamwise direction is enhanced while those in the wall-normal and spanwise directions are suppressed. The Kolmogorov and buoyancy scales and model parameters such as the von Karman constant and turbulent Prandtl number are presented.
