ABSTRAKT

The effects of oscillatory heating on thermosolutal convection in a cavity heated from below is presented in this paper. The transient Navier-Stokes equations, coupled with the heat and mass balances were solved numerically using a control volume technique. It is assumed that the interface always moves with dimensionless constant growth velocity (Vp= 0.1). The results showed the presence of multiple solutions in response to simultaneous vertical temperature and species concentration gradients applied to the system. Two critical frequencies are identified. One corresponds to low values of buoyancy ratio N (N1) when the flow intensity is reduced and reached a minimal value. The other one occurs at higher value of N (N50), when the flow intensity is increased and reached a maximal value.
