Pragmatic wall treatment for RANS simulations on Cartesian cut– cell grids
ABSTRAKT
This paper reports on the development and application of wall treatment suitable for RANS predictions in complex geometries discretised with either Cartesian cut–cell or any other unstructured grids. The treatment employs the new enhanced wall functions which can be used for both high and low Reynolds–number variants of k - ε models. These wall functions are important ingredients of the Cell Interpolative Scheme, which has been designed to overcome the problem of grid quality on any type of grid. Turbulent vortex shedding from a circular cylinder and the engine port flow are used to assess the proposed wall treatment. In both cases the predicted results are in reasonable agreement with the published numerical or experimental data.
