High Accurate Finite Volume Method for Large Eddy Simulation of Complex Turbulent Flows

ABSTRAKT

This paper proposes a finite volume method with compact fourth order accuracy scheme for large eddy simulation (LES). A turbulent flow over a backward facing step is numerically tested for its effectiveness with dynamic Smagorinsky subgrid model. Immersed boundary method (IBM) is applied in this paper to deal with flows over complex configuration. A flow around a three-dimensional hill is computed with immersed boundary method and the predicted results are in good agreement with experimental data and much better than previous computational results.
