HEAT TRANSFER MODES IN COMPLEX INTERNAL FLOWS
ABSTRAKT
We present an aerothermal heat transfer mode analysis for complex internal flows encountered in the vehicle underhood compartment. We report underhood heat flux and temperature measurements on a vehicle made in wind tunnel S4 of Saint-Cyr-France using a newly developed method that permits separate measurement of convective and radiative heat flux. The vehicle engine is in operation and the front wheels are positioned on the test facilities with power-absorption-controlled rollers. The underhood is instrumented with 40 surface and air thermocouples and 20 fluxmeters, and measurements are carried out for three thermal functioning regimes.
