ABSTRAKT
An equation is derived for air-cooled heat exchangers relating the exchanger air pressure drop, flowrate and density, the fan non-dimensional parameters specific speed and load coefficient and the fan total sound power level. An example is given where a reduction of the total sound power level in excess of 12 dB (re 10−12 W) could be expected for a noise optimized exchanger design in comparison to a lowest annual cost design. A method is presented for readily selecting and comparing different fans for an exchanger.
