RT Journal Article ID 52806a2f4b4e360a T1 Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer in the Interface Region Between a Porous Medium and a Fluid Layer: A Boundary Layer Solution JF Journal of Porous Media JO JPM YR 1999 FD 1999-09-01 VO 2 IS 3 SP 309 OP 321 AB This article presents a new analytical solution for the fully developed forced convection in a composite channel bounded by two infinite fixed plates. The upper part of the channel is occupied by a fluid-saturated porous medium while the lower part is occupied by a clear fluid. A uniform heat flux is imposed at the lower plate, while the upper plate is adiabatic. The Brinkman-Forchheimer-extended Darcy equation is utilized as a momentum equation for the porous region. Utilizing the boundary layer technique, analytical solutions for the velocity and temperature distributions, as well as for the Nusselt number, are obtained.
