ABSTRAKT

The purpose of this experimental work is to investigate the effects of upper plenum on the critical heat flux for downward flow. The experiments were carried out with a circular tube test section in a water test loop at low flow rate (0−200 kg/(m²·s)) and low pressure (1.0−7.0 bar) conditions. The upper plenum had a volume of about 1 liter. The effects of upper plenum on the downflow CHF were found to have a strong connection with the remained gas in the upper plenum and the system pressure.
