The Reliability of Structures with Uncertain Parameters Excited by the Wind
ABSTRAKT
The present paper discusses a probabilistic model of the gust buffeting of structures under wind loads that takes into account the uncertainties inherent the estimates of the atmospheric turbulence, structural, aerodynamic parameters and the randomness of the wind velocity. The first part gives a general frame of different propagation techniques of the uncertainties over the response. Starting from statistical models of the input parameters and applying a closed form solution of the wind-excited response, the statistical moments of the structural motion arc obtained as a function of the mean wind velocity showing a considerable scattering of the results. The second part of the paper carries out reliability analyses. An approximate expression of the probability density function of the maximum structural response is obtained in which the random nature of the wind velocity has the effect of mitigating the propagation of the uncertainties of the other parameters.
