Damping of Turbulence at the Transitional Stage of Evolution of a Patent

ABSTRAKT

The balance of energy of turbulence for a patch undergoing the transitional stage of evolution is reduced to a Ricatti equation. Asymptotic solutions for the axisymmetrical and plane patches are obtained. It is demonstrated that the use of a turbulent flow profile in the model causes a more rapid decay of turbulence as compared with a viscous profile. The numerical results are presented.
