Cardioprotective Action of the Coenzyme Q under the Activation of Its Endogenous Synthesis during the Ischemia- Reperfusion in the Old Rat Heart
ABSTRAKT
Changes in the functional state of old rats' hearts, isolated using Lanhendorf’s method, with low content of ubiqinone − coenzyme Q (CoQ) and under the activation of its endogenous synthesis through the administration of the precursors − 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, methionine and of the modulator − vitamin E, were studied. Activation of the ubiqinone biosynthesis contributes to the cardiovascular effect due to the reduction in the ischemiareperfusion injury in old rat hearts. This effect exerts in the restoration of myocardial contractile function and coronary flow as well as in the decrease of the end diastolic pressure and in the oxygen cost of the heart work as compared to the control group. Thus, the results allow us to conclude that the activation of the CoQ biosynthesis under the administration of its precursors reveals the protective effect on the development of the heart's postreperfusion damages in aging.
