ABSTRAKT

In the framework of the three-dimensional Navier−Stokes equations, the interaction of Mach waves induced by two-dimensional roughness on a side wall of a wind-tunnel test section with the boundary layer on a flat plate of sharp leading edge is studied numerically at the free-stream Mach number 2.5. It is shown that the Mach waves generate a longitudinal quasi-steady wake propagating in the boundary layer at large distances from the plate leading edge. The wake structure is considered in detail. The numerical results agree well with the known experimental data for mass flow disturbances measured in the T-325 supersonic wind tunnel at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk, Russia).
